MTV VMAs 2014 nominations announced: Beyonce leads pack with eight nominations
Rappers Eminem and Iggy Azalea are close behind with seven noms for the Video Music Awards; Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' and Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' will provide Mrs. Carter's 'Drunk in Love' some serious competition for Video

The nominations for for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Thursday morning and Mrs. Carter leads the field with eight nods — including Video of the Year for her collaboration with husband Jay Z, “Drunk in Love.”
Rapper Eminem was close behind, notching seven nominations, as did newcomer Iggy Azalea, who will be vying against Beyonce for Video of the Year with her hit, “Fancy.”
Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Sia’s “Chandelier” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” round out the nominees for the award show’s marquee trophy.
The winners of the Moonmen statuettes will be revealed during the live telecast from LA.’s The Forum airing on MTV on Sun., Aug. 24 at 9 p.m.
Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer have been announced as performers — but they’ll have a tough act to follow after Cyrus’ now legendary twerking performance during last year’s VMAs caused so much tongue wagging.
